Just curious if this is normal? This morning I used Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% after splashing my face with some water, patting dry. Then after I spritzed with rose water and went in with GC hyaluronic acid. Finished with elf Holy Hydration cream and SPF. My face feels tight and dry today, it has to be the vitamin C right?
Mainly what I'm looking for is to get rid of those spots. TO says that Alpha Arbutin is supposed to be really good at that, so I have been looking at those products. One has hyaluronic acid and the other has a vitamin C derivative. I would like to use either of these products in a routine with TO niacinamide + zinc.

Retinols or vitamin c for acne scars/ hyperpigmentation ? If you had to pick one to keep/ get first for acne scar fading and hyperpigmentation then which one would you get. Also is the ordinary best suited for a beginner (I was thinking of getting either TO ascorbic acid/alpha arbutin OR 1% retinol squalane) Retinol.

I tried the Alpha Arbutin + HA serum. I could see a sliiiight reduction in acne scars. But it irritated my skin quite a bit and dried it out. I'm not sure why though, like was it the alpha arbutin that was drying out my skin or something else in the formula. So as a whole it wasn't really worth it for me at least. I will say that the Ascorbic acid (Vit C) + alpha arbutin is more effective as it combines 2 brightening ingredients, versus the alpha arbutin + hyaluronic acid. However, the Ascorbic acid formula is more greasy and suitable for night-time use, while the hyaluronic acid one feels more like a serum that you can wear in the daytime.
Courtesy. Along with alpha-arbutin, this brightening serum is supercharged with 20% ascorbic acid, feurlic acid, and kojic acid to minimize dark spots and provide antioxidant protection against

The good news is azelaic acid and vitamin C are safe to use together in the same routine. However, keep in mind that both are potent ingredients, as such, it is preferable to space them out between your morning and evening routine. For optimal results, it is preferable to use Vitamin C during your morning routine as its anti-oxidant effect will

azelaic acid was useful for acne, tranexamic and kojic for pigmentation but tranexamic is gentler than kojic acid! Alpha arbutin didn't work for me and neither did vitamin C but for some people they work wonders
